Hebrews 12:24 says that believers have come to “Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and TO THE BLOOD OF SPRINKLING THAT SPEAKS BETTER THINGS THAN THAT OF ABEL.

The blood of Jesus (the Mediator of the New Covenant) speaks better things than Abel’s. The “blood” here refers to their offering (both Abel’s and Christ’s).

Jesus’ offering speaks better things than that of Abel i.e. what Abel offered in Genesis 4 (an animal sacrifice). The word “better” (“kreittón” in the Greek) is used by the writer of Hebrews throughout the Book to refer to what is REAL, as opposed to a type/shadow (see Heb 7:22, 8:6, 9:23, 11:16, 40). It refers to what is more excellent, in that it does not prefigure, but is (in itself) the reality.

All offerings before Christ, including Abel’s, were types/pictures/prefigurations of Christ’s (pointing to HIS sacrifice). They are not the true but copies of the true (John 1:29). So the blood of Jesus (His offering) bests/surpasses all prior sacrifices, both under the Mosaic Law, and before the same (offered by the Jewish Patriarchs in the pre-Law Era).

Thus, the blood of Jesus (His offering) speaks better things that Abel’s offering did, in that it stands as the REALITY of that type.
